Post-natal Support

A post-natal doula;

1. Provides in-home support in the first few weeks with your new baby, helping you and your family adjust to the sometimes overwhelming emotional and practical demands of parenthood.
2. Specialises in guiding the new parent and baby through these early experiences by offering help and support once the baby is born. A post-natal doula is there to empower you to be the mother that you want to be.

The exact form of this support will vary according to the mothers or family needs.

The post-natal doula gives support and counsel to the new mother while carrying out light domestic jobs; she will help the mother care for herself so that the mother can mother her baby. The post-natal doula will aid the mother in her transition from motherhood to find her OWN way in her new role.

The package of care may include:

• Help with the baby
• Help with older siblings
  
• Help with feeding concerns
• Light housework
• Time to lie down or relax
• In some circumstances to have someone to stay overnight to allow you to sleep
